麻豆官网 is committed to ensuring that the experience of all community members is inclusive and speaks to the values of our school. To ensure a safe educational and work environment, we are intentional to accept the many intersections of identities that make up our diverse community.

The role of restorative practices and bias reporting

We believe in and practice a restorative approach to interactions between community members when harm has been caused. Restorative methods and practices focus on making sure all community members are treated with dignity and respect. Restorative practices create the possibility of healing, repair, and transformation to take root within a community. When we are intentional about how we are interconnected, we foster belonging and build a healthier community through centering relationships based on trust, respect, and shared values. When we do, we will thrive together. (Look for the Bias Incident Reporting icon)

What is a bias incident?
A bias incident is considered to be a conscious or unconscious action, use of speech, a micro-aggression, or expression motivated, in whole or in part, by bias or prejudice. It is any discriminatory, threatening, harassing, intimidating, hurtful, or hostile act both intentional and unintentional that appears to be motivated by a person’s identity or group affiliation, including but not limited to age, ability, ethnicity, family structure, gender, learning style, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and/or language. Should any one in our community be negatively impacted as a result of another community member engaging in biased behavior, we invite you to file an incident bias report accessible through the MyMV Resource Board.

What happens after I submit a report?
Once you have filed your report, the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, Upper School Dean of Students, and Director of Human Resources will review and record the details of the incident report. The appropriate division head will be contacted to determine the next steps of the follow-up. If you indicate that you would like to have a conversation with either the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Director or Dean of Students, you will be contacted within 48 hours unless it is indicated that this requires immediate attention.

If you are an MV employee or student and want to file an incident claim that involves Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, Dean of Students or Director of Human Resources, please do not fill out this form; instead, go directly to Head of School Lynn Casto and she will direct you on next steps.

Note: If you wish to remain anonymous, this will prevent us from following-up with you or providing status updates.

What happens to the report?
Any data from submitted reports will be used to summarize incidents of bias, and the information will be shared with the school’s Leadership Team. All personal identifying information will be removed to maintain confidentiality. The summary reports will inform the Leadership Team of the current needs for necessary training and professional development efforts to address and reduce incidents of bias at 麻豆官网.
