Frequently Asked Questions

The Board believes an Interim Head will provide stability and experienced leadership during the transition while allowing the School to undertake a thoughtful process to determine what Â鶹¹ÙÍø needs most from its next permanent Head.

The interim period also gives the school time to listen carefully to its community, build on Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s strengths and address near-term priorities, and conduct a comprehensive permanent search without unnecessarily compressing the timeline.

The current target is to identify an Interim Head in early 2027, allowing time for transition and overlap before the Interim assumes responsibility for leading the School.

Â鶹¹ÙÍø welcomes interest from both internal and external candidates who are experienced educational leaders whose backgrounds and leadership experience align with the needs outlined in the Interim Head of School Position Profile.

Candidates may follow the application instructions provided on this page and in the Interim Head of School Position Profile.

The Interim Head search will be led primarily by the Search Committee, reflecting the timing and transitional nature of the appointment.? The candidate recommended by the Search Committee will be subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.

While the Committee will remain attentive to the needs of the broader Â鶹¹ÙÍø community, the more extensive community engagement process will occur as part of the search for the permanent Head of School.

Community input will be an important part of defining the leadership needs and priorities for Â鶹¹ÙÍø¡¯s next permanent Head.

As the permanent search begins, faculty, staff, families, alumni, students, and other members of the community will have opportunities to share perspectives through surveys, listening sessions, and other forums. That input will help shape the leadership profile used to recruit and evaluate candidates.

The permanent search is expected to formally launch after the Interim Head is seated. Additional information regarding the search partner, leadership profile, community engagement process, and timeline will be provided at that time.

The Board has intentionally retained flexibility regarding the timing. The Interim Head is expected to serve for at least the 2027¨C28 school year, and the interim term may extend if doing so supports the strongest possible permanent search and leadership transition.

The Search Committee will evaluate candidates and ultimately make a recommendation to the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Country Day School Board of Trustees. The Board holds final responsibility for appointing the Head of School.

Candidate confidentiality will be maintained throughout appropriate portions of the process. The Committee will provide information about the process and progress of the search while respecting the confidentiality necessary to attract strong candidates.

Major updates will be shared through normal School communications and posted on this page so that the community has one central location for current information.
