As the curtains rise on a new academic year, 麻豆官网 Country Day School proudly presents its lineup for the upcoming 2024-2025 theater season, promising a diverse array of performances for audiences of all ages.
Sept. 10-11 (fall Intensive production): “The Bald Soprano”
Kicking off the season with wit and absurdity, “The Bald Soprano” is a classic of the “Theatre of the Absurd.” Set in a mundane English living room, the play explores the breakdown of communication between its characters in hilariously nonsensical ways.
Show times: 3:30 p.m. each day
Nov. 21-24: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”
In this Tony Award-winning musical comedy, audience members are invited into the pressure-cooker world of competitive spelling. Follow a group of quirky adolescents as they vie for spelling glory and navigate the awkwardness of adolescence.
Show times: Nov. 21-23 @ 7:30 p.m., Nov. 24 @ 2:30 p.m.
Jan. 31-Feb. 1: “Newsies Jr.”
Our Lower and Middle School students combine forces to present “Newsies Jr.” The show transports audiences to 1899 New York City, where a band of teenage newsboys fight against powerful newspaper tycoons. With infectious music and inspiring choreography, this production is a true crowd-pleaser.
Show times: Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2025 @ 7 p.m.
March 6-9: “The Rimers Of Eldritch”
A haunting exploration of small-town America, “The Rimers Of Eldritch” delves into the lives of its inhabitants, revealing dark secrets and profound truths. Landford Wilson’s masterful storytelling unfolds through interconnected vignettes that challenge perceptions of morality and community.
Show times: March 6-8 @ 7:30 p.m., March 9 @ 2:30 p.m.
April 2025 (Thespian Society): “The MT Cabaret”
Closing the season with flair, “The MT Cabaret” showcases the extraordinary talents of 麻豆官网’s musical theater department. From beloved classics to contemporary hits, this showcase promises an unforgettable evening of song and dance.
